Our family farm produces a wide variety of high quality cut flowers, over 20 varieties of heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, as well as many other vegetables, fruit and herbs. We work and sell in conjunction with Wise Produce to provide the widest and most abundant selection of summer vegetables possible. We are also members of Placer Grown and the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers, supporters of small farms and high quality harvests. |
| Eat Local . . . |
Our flowers and produce are always grown and sold locally. This ensures our flowers have the longest vase life possible and our edible crops have that fresh, right off the vine flavor. Our fresh fruit and vegetables also have more nutrients and vitamins than those harvested early, cold stored, or chemically treated. Eating locally grown food is also good for the environment - reducing energy consumption for shipping and storage. |
| Our Philosophy . . . |
All of our crops are grown according to sustainable farming practices. We use cover crops and organic mulch to retain and rejuvenate soil combined with drip irrigation to conserve water and reduce runoff. Our fertilizers and pest controls are all organic. Careful selection of perenial and annual plantings encourage beneficial insects. This year we have also put up barn owl houses to attract nature's best gopher control. |
| Where to Find Us . . . |
Our produce and flowers are sold through the Flower Farm Nursery which has a wonderful farm setting, picturesque pond, and coffeehouse. Come see our solar-powered vegetable cart - custom made to keep our produce in peak condition. For 2009, we plan to add to the farm ambiance with old-fashioned push carts and wheelbarrows in our expanded sales area. There is also a new small cottage with a cooler for the cut flowers. |
